UAE Satellite Test Lets Ordinary Smartphones Send Texts With Zero Mobile Signal
UAE spacetech firm Space42 and Skylo Technologies have successfully tested two-way SMS and SOS messaging on a standard Android phone with no extra hardware, using the Thuraya-4 satellite. Commercial rollout is expected by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approval.
