DUBAI – Logistics heavyweight Aramex officially inaugurated its first regional healthcare and pharmaceutical hub on Tuesday, marking a significant expansion of its specialized supply chain capabilities. Located within the strategic Dubai South Free Zone, the facility is designed to address the growing regional demand for highly regulated, temperature-sensitive medical distribution.
The launch follows formal certification from the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), green-lighting the facility to handle complex pharmaceutical operations. This move significantly strengthens Aramex’s footprint across the GCC.
High-Tech Infrastructure for Sensitive Goods
The 5,600-square-meter facility is engineered to maintain the strict integrity of medical products. Key features include:
- Diverse Climate Zones: The hub offers a range of environments, from ambient storage to specialized cold rooms and freezer units.
- End-to-End Integration: Aramex has consolidated freight, customs clearance, warehousing, and last-mile delivery into a single, seamless operation.
- Regulatory Compliance: The facility adheres to international Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards and is supported by ISO-backed quality management systems.
- Sustainable Growth: This expansion reflects the broader trend of economic diversification within the UAE.
A Vision for Resilient Supply Chains
Fadi Azzi, Senior Logistics Director at Aramex, emphasized that the hub is more than just a warehouse; it is a move toward elevating regional standards.
"Our goal is to provide healthcare partners with a resilient, compliant, and fully integrated supply chain that empowers them to serve patients with greater speed, safety, and reliability," Azzi stated.
By positioning the hub in Dubai South, Aramex leverages the Free Zone's proximity to major shipping lanes and Al Maktoum International Airport. This move provides a critical link for global pharmaceutical companies seeking a reliable gateway into Middle Eastern markets, much like other recent diversification efforts in the UAE economy.
